Signs Your Gelco Chimney Cap Installation Is Failing

• The cap tilts or sits unevenly. The base flange has pulled its masonry anchors, or the crown beneath it has spalled (flaked) from freeze-thaw. Here’s where DIY goes wrong. Gelco caps on multi-flue setups require precise base fabrication; a cap that overhangs the crown by even an inch catches wind lift and tears off. Single-flue caps need proper base-ring tension - too tight and you crack the flue tile, too loose and the cap departs in the first March gale.
